What I like about my work
I have a diverse range of clients that keep me challenged. I enjoy the variety and demands of the corporate world but it is also immensely satisfying to still be helping the private individual clients who I have worked with over many years.
What I’ve done in the past
I began my legal career with a major law firm based in Wellington but moved back to the mainland in 1984 joining Duncan Cotterill where I became a Partner there in 1986. I served as Chairman of Partners for the firm for a number of years and was extremely proud of the firm’s growth that was achieved during that time. I joined the Anderson Lloyd Partnership this year.
My approach to working with my clients
No two days are the same. (and I like it that way). Clients want you to advocate for them. They want commercial solutions and not get too mired down in legal exchanges for the sake of it. I like to tell my clients the way it is and they appreciate the frank and up front approach I offer them.
What I enjoy at work
Anderson Lloyd has a real energy and enthusiasm. We have a great range of expertise and a real depth of experience. I like working with a team of people who respond to the challenging client issues but also know how to enjoy themselves and show a real interest in their clients beyond just the legal matters.
What I enjoy outside of work
I’m a passionate golfer and enjoy the opportunities the sport allows for me to take in some great parts of New Zealand – particularly the courses throughout the South Island.
What I enjoy about living in the South Island
I have a teenage family who are at various stages in their schooling and studies. I enjoy spending time with my wife supporting our children through their various sporting, cultural and academic endeavours.
